Anonymous asked: Re: Trigger warning
I'm the one who uploaded the secret containing self-harm
I apologize if it triggered such emotions in anybody, I honestly wasn't even thinking when I posted it. If I could do it over again, I definitely wouldn't have uploaded it. It's a very sensitive topic, and I should have taken other people's emotions into consideration. Once again,...

metapianycist asked: I started a new secret blog, newqueersecrets.tumblr.com. If someone submits a secret that could have a common trigger associated with it and I post it, I will post it behind a trigger warning.

I am in no way affiliated with this blog, but you might be interested in it.
I quit.
It was a good run, but if queersecrets is going to post painfully triggering secrets and disregard the idea of trigger warnings, I simply can’t do it anymore. I’m unfollowing queersecrets, and thus I can not do this anymore.
Feel free to follow my main tumblr, kaeklep.tumblr.com
queersecrets didn't actually suck
Until now, when they decided trigger warnings aren’t important.

answer: no 1: a trigger is subjective 2: pointless for anyone reading from the blog because text comes after the image anyway if you don’t like it unfollow and/or block from appearing — it’s that simple
1. Do you even know what a trigger warning is? Of course it’s subjective!!! Not everyone will be triggered by something, and you don’t necessarily know...

Good call.
Queersecrets is great as it is, we don’t need labels and shit putting on things.
Everyone is going to be triggered by something and there’d be no end...
Trigger Warning →
I apologize for being a hypocrite by complaining that this secret needs a trigger warning, then posting it without one. That’s one of the least considering things I’ve ever done.
I still insist that this secret needs a trigger warning, and not adding one is completely disrespectful.
Anonymous asked: RE: "I'm a girl. I'm attracted to... Well, if I had to define it, anyone masculine?..."
I don't think the author is inferring that she thinks all men, lesbians, trans people are masculine.
More that she's attracted to masculine men, masculine lesbians, etc.

Anonymous asked: Regarding the secret about transitioning precluding getting pregnant and having a child (http://queersecretssucks.tumblr.com/post/1012576374/via-queersecrets-transitioning-does-not-prevent), this is the internet. You do not know what country the poster is from. In many countries sterilization *is* required for transition. Top surgery is not enough; a man must have a full hysterectomy in order to...
Wow!
I’ve been reblogging some exceptional posts by exceptional people responding to some problematic secrets with some very constructive criticism!
Thank you.
Anonymous asked: queersecrets did not post my secret. it was a secret that i really needed to tell someone and i want the relief of just putting it out there. having it rejected feels like it was "worthy". i know it's stupid but i want to feel like someone cares.

Anonymous asked: On the secret relating to knights and princesses, I think it is incredibly ignorant of you to call the secret-teller sexist. Far from it, it seems to me that they are aware of how society is sexist and considers girls unable to be knights and boys unable to be princesses.
Also, I really take issue with how you phrase your responses - they often sound like attacks. You accuse this...

Anonymous asked: How many followers do you have? I just wonder if you're reaching a wide audience like Queer Secret is.
Anonymous asked: I understand that people are upset that they're hearing AGAIN that you have to be skinny to be androgynous, but don't blame someone for internalising it. that's victim-blaming and it's fucked up. someone who is hurting themselves because they believe the lies they've been told is not your fucking enemy. blame our sexist, fatphobic, queerphobic culture.

i stopped saying transmen and transwomyn for the aforementioned reasons. however, i feel like using trans-man and trans-womyn is not the same. the reason i say this is for grammar. i use trans-womyn in place of “transgender womyn” as it is an abbreviation. “trans” is not a word on its own. obviously when using the whole word, i’m not going to say transgender-womyn as that is ridiculous and...
Anonymous asked: I submitted my secret a few days ago, so I'm assuming that Queer Secrets isn't going to post my secret. I really don't see how it's an invalid secret. Perhaps you could help?

Anonymous asked: Hm, for some reason I thought there was a question box for this topic... if there is, I apologize for missing it! I wanted to add my two cents on the topic of what and what not to call trans people, specifically the "MTF" and "FTM" terms.

Anonymous asked: I feel kind of silly, since I'm a trans man and should probably know, but in Ze/zan, is ze what replaces he if I talk about you, and is zan equal to him? and if I want to say something along the lines of "his blog" would it be zans, or something else? I've never really met anyone that identified as gender queer, or anything other than trans, I need to start getting used to...

lloorren asked: As much as I do think you push the Political Correctness aspect on things, I think that sort of thing is something that could be encouraged with topics that are so rarely covered by the media, because anyone could stumble about these pages and get a huge introduction to something that is more likely than not improperly introduced or portrayed as a joke. My friend told me to add Queersecrets, and...
the rudy affairs: What not to call trans people: →
I’m still confused on the differences between trans-gender, transvestite, and transsexual… just a tad confused.
This is more complex than I’m about to make it seem, but here’s the basic:
“Transsexual” describes someone who’s sex identity is different than their birth assigned sex. I know that probably meant nothing to you, so here’s a simpler version:...

Jeshi:
While the logical reasoning makes sense, the difference between Transwoman and Trans Woman seems really nit-picky. It seems like a technicality that I doubt even most trans people are aware of. And in modern language people verb nouns and adjectify nouns and noun adjectives all the time. And the way this writing came off it seemed like the person writing didn’t understand this, and...

Avoid: transman, transwoman, trans-man, trans-woman, etc. Instead, use: trans man, trans woman, etc. Why?: The one-word “transwoman” and hyphenated “trans-woman” imply that trans is a gender different from woman. The space indicates that it’s an adjective describing a woman, such as “Asian man”…

I love food way way way too much to ever do that on purpose, and I love my body too much for that, too, because when I don’t eat I feel like shit.
